And guess who was there to soak it all in and capture some of the magic? Yours truly, Sophia B, from Beside The Seaside Photography & Weddings!

The event was held in the bustling Bermondsey Street London Bridge Arches, a truly unique and vibrant setting that perfectly matched the energy of the night. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with so many brilliant minds and creative spirits. I had the pleasure of attending alongside the fabulous style influencer Susie McBride, whose eye for detail is just as sharp as her wit. The room was filled with a diverse and inspiring group, including the talented Jay Groom, author Tamu Thomas, and the legendary Alex Foden – the genius behind Amy Winehouse's iconic beehive! It was also wonderful to see Hayley Sparkes, radiating her usual warmth and enthusiasm.

Francesca's new book is an absolute game-changer. "Manifest Like a Mother" is more than just a guide; it's a powerful invitation to embrace your potential, nurture your dreams, and truly manifest the life you desire, all while navigating the beautiful chaos of motherhood. Her words resonate deeply, offering practical wisdom and heartfelt encouragement to mothers – and really, anyone – looking to align their intentions with their actions.

As a photographer, I'm constantly striving to capture moments of joy, love, and genuine connection. Francesca's message beautifully complements the ethos of Beside The Seaside Photography & Weddings. Whether it's the tender gaze between newlyweds or the playful chaos of a family photoshoot by the shimmering Solent, I believe in capturing the essence of life's most precious manifestations. Just as Francesca empowers mothers to create their ideal lives, I aim to preserve the visual stories of those lives – the laughter, the milestones, and the unspoken emotions that make each moment unique.

Francesca spoke with such passion and authenticity, sharing anecdotes and insights that made everyone feel seen and understood. It's clear that this book is set to be a massive success, inspiring countless individuals to tap into their inner power. If you're looking for a dose of motivation, practical tools for personal growth, and a heartwarming perspective on living your best life, "Manifest Like a Mother" is an absolute must-read.

Capturing the First Day: Why Documenting School Milestones Matters 🏫📸

The first day of school is a monumental occasion, not just for our children, but for us as parents too. It’s a swirl of emotions – excitement, a touch of nerves, and immense pride. Here in Portsmouth, as countless little ones don their new uniforms and head off on their first day.

it’s a moment truly worth freezing in time. But why is it so important to document this journey, and how do photographs become our most cherished memory keepers?

Why That First Day Deserves More Than Just a Mental Note

  • That small hand clutching a much-too-big backpack, the perfectly polished shoes, the nervous but excited smile – these are the details that make up a child’s entry into formal education. Documenting this significant life event allows us to:

  • Capture a Pivotal Milestone: Starting school isn't just another day; it's a rite of passage into a new chapter of independence and learning. It’s a visible marker of their growth, a moment when they officially step out into the world on their own two feet (well, almost!).

  • Weave a Visual Story of Growth: Imagine looking back years from now, seeing a series of first-day photos. From a tiny Reception student to a confident Year 6 leaver, these images create a compelling visual narrative of their school journey. You’ll see the subtle changes, the growth spurts, and the evolving personality reflected in their annual pose.

  • Strengthen Family Bonds & Shared History: These documented moments become conversation starters. "Remember your first day at [School Name]?" becomes a rich discussion about their feelings, their friends, and their early experiences. It helps them understand their own past and creates a shared history for the family.

    Photographs: Our Timeless Treasures

In an age of fleeting digital scrolls, the power of a physical photograph remains undeniable. Photographs aren't just pictures; they are powerful memory triggers that transcend time.

  • Tangible Keepsakes: While our phones are full of digital snaps, there's something truly special about a printed photograph. Whether it's in an album, a frame on the wall, or tucked away in a memory box, these physical objects offer a tangible connection to the past. They’re heirlooms in the making, ready to be passed down and shared through generations.

  • Evoking Emotion & Connection: A single photograph can instantly transport us back to that exact moment. It rekindles the emotions – the joy, the pride, the slight wistfulness – allowing us to relive the experience rather than just recall it.

  • Reliable Memory Aids: Our memories, while precious, can sometimes be hazy. Photographs act as reliable records, filling in the gaps and bringing forgotten details back into sharp focus. They ensure that the small, beautiful moments aren't lost to time.

So, as another school year begins here in Portsmouth and beyond, don't just wave goodbye.

Take a moment to capture that day. Snap a photo, jot down a few notes, and create those precious memories. You'll be so glad you did!

What are your favourite first-day-of-school traditions? Share them in the comments below!

Cherishing Moments: A Farewell to Greece (For Now!)

A beautiful doorway - there were many !!!

The Morning Melon Man !!!

There are some trips that just hit different, aren't there?

This recent holiday was exactly that for me – arriving at a time in my life when a true escape was needed the most. And what an escape it was!

Spending quality moments and making incredible memories with my family is what genuinely fills my heart with so much joy. From the laughter to the quiet shared glances, these are the treasures we'll hold onto long after the tans fade.

It's always tough to say goodbye to a place that has captured your heart, and leaving behind such a beautiful destination certainly tugs at the emotions. But there's a strong feeling this won't be our last visit. Call it a hunch, or perhaps it's just in the boys' genes – and I suspect it's in mine too!

Oh, the things we'll miss! The unique "melon man" wake-up call, the perfect Good Morning coffee, the feel of Kavalan sand between our toes, and those fresh, vibrant Greek Salads. We'll long for the consistently warm temperatures and skies free of grey. And honestly, so much more.

Greece, you've etched a special place in our hearts. As the saying goes, "Collect moments not things," and we've certainly collected a lifetime of beautiful moments on this trip. Until next time, your sun-drenched shores and warm embrace will be fondly remembered.

Today I asked my body what she needed,

Today I asked my body what she needed,

Which is a big deal

Considering my journey of

Not Really Asking That Much.

I thought she might need more water.

Or protein.

Or greens.

Or yoga.

Or supplements.

Or movement.

But as I stood in the shower Reflecting on her stretch marks, Her roundness where I would like flatness, Her softness where I would like firmness, All those conditioned wishes That form a bundle of

Never-Quite-Right-Ness,

She whispered very gently:

Could you just love me like this?

I don't really love photography, I love people

My photographer friend Zoe once said 'I realized I don't really love photography, I love people, photography is just my way of meeting them.' and I completely resonate with that.

I can't tell you the top 10 best cameras, the best starter camera, or what flash to buy.

What I can tell you is the backstories of each couple I photograph, and how uniquely different each couple is. there are a million ways to love and I love witnessing how each couple interacts with each other.

Great photography is about far more than simply capturing beautiful images

Great photography is about far more than simply capturing beautiful images – it’s about telling a meaningful and heartfelt story, preserving a cherished family legacy, and creating deep emotional connections that will endure and be treasured long after the session has ended.

I have been a dedicated photographer for over 15 years now in Portsmouth, Hampshire, UK. Throughout my career, I have had the honor of winning several awards and being featured on MTV, which has been truly rewarding. Despite all these achievements, my passion for photography remains as strong and genuine as it was on the very first day I picked up my camera..

My legacy is to inspire all of my clients to proudly display cherished images on their walls, especially those captured during the photography sessions I have had the privilege to create with many beautiful clients. These photographs are more than just pictures; they are timeless memories meant to be treasured and shared for years to come.

From Sandcastles to Paddleboards: A Lifetime by the Sea! 🌊

Seaside memories:

There's something truly special about growing up by the sea, and my heart is full of so many fond memories! ❤️ From scorching hot summers as a kid to adventurous days out in the dinghy even when it was raining, the beach was my playground. I remember countless hours building magnificent sandcastles and embarking on epic quests to dig the deepest holes imaginable.

And who could forget those classic moments? Listening to Soul II Soul on the beach, watching friends confidently slather on Factor 2 (oh, how times have changed!), and exploring the cool, shadowy world underneath South Parade Pier.

Now, as a parent, I'm making new seaside memories with my own children, and it's just as magical. We've had hilarious moments with them painting themselves before a dip in the sea, the stress (and eventual laughter) of the car getting stuck in the stones at Hayling, and the pure panic of my son getting lost on a very busy Southsea beach (thankfully, quickly found!). We've embraced new adventures like paddleboarding and embarked on exciting treasure hunts.

The seaside has given me a lifetime of joy, from my own childhood escapades to the precious moments I share with my kids today.

I’ve also thoroughly enjoyed capturing children and families in the moment at a beach locally - creating memories to last a lifetime.

Don't Disappear From Your Family's Story: Why Professional Photographs Matter

One day all YOUR CHILDREN WILL HAVE is pictures of you. YOUR HAIR LOOKS LIKE, your make up, or your body, THEY WON'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF THAT, they'll just want to see you.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN THEM.

no matter what

DO IT FOR THЕМ.

As a photographer, I often hear people say they'll get around to professional photos "someday," or they're not quite ready for the camera. But here's a truth I want you to hold onto: one day, all your children will have are pictures of you. They won't care about your hair, your make-up, or your body. They'll just want to see you.

It's a powerful thought, isn't it? In our busy lives, it's easy to let ourselves slip out of the frame. We're often the ones behind the camera, documenting everyone else's milestones, but rarely our own. But for your children, and for generations to come, you are a vital part of their story. Make sure you are in them, no matter what. Do it for them.

This isn't just about vanity; it's about preserving memories, celebrating moments, and building a visual legacy for your family. That's where professional photography comes in.

More Than Just a Snapshot: My Specialist Genres

At Beside The Seaside Photography, based here in Portsmouth, Hampshire, I specialize in capturing the genuine emotions and unique stories of individuals and families. Here's how I can help you ensure you're part of those cherished memories:

* Child & Family Portraits and Location Sessions: These sessions are all about capturing the magic of your family's connections. Whether it's the playful chaos of childhood or the loving bond of a family, I create relaxed and fun environments to capture authentic moments that you'll treasure for years. Imagine your children looking back at photos of you laughing, playing, and simply being present with them.

* Events & Celebrations, Including Weddings: From the grandeur of a wedding day to the joy of a birthday celebration, these are moments that deserve to be beautifully documented. While you're immersed in the festivities, I'll discreetly capture the candid emotions, the intricate details, and all the special interactions, allowing you to relive those precious memories again and again.

* Branding & Headshots: For entrepreneurs, professionals, and creatives, your image is your brand. A professional headshot or branding session isn't just a picture; it's an investment in your personal and business story. I'll help you present yourself authentically and professionally, ensuring your visual presence reflects your unique personality and expertise.

* Cake Smashes: These delightful sessions are a celebration of a baby's first birthday, full of joy, mess, and uninhibited fun! They're a perfect way to capture a truly unique milestone and create hilarious and heartwarming memories for the whole family.

Invest in Your Legacy

Hiring a professional photographer isn't just about getting nice pictures; it's about investing in your family's visual history. It's about ensuring that your children and grandchildren will have tangible memories of you, fully present and part of their story.

Don't let another year go by without being in the frame. Let's create beautiful, lasting memories together.

Hampshire's Hidden Gems: A Photographer's Guide to the Best Beaches

Southsea Beach Hampshire

Hampshire, a county celebrated for its rich history and vibrant cities, also boasts a stunning coastline dotted with truly beautiful beaches. For us at Beside The Seaside Photography, these aren't just stretches of sand and shingle; they're canvases waiting for the perfect light and composition. This guide explores some of the best beaches in Hampshire, perfect for capturing their unique natural beauty.

1. Hill Head Beach: Serenity by the Solent

(Opportunity for photos of a calm shingle beach, long exposure water, Isle of Wight in the distance, wading birds)

Hill Head offers a wonderfully tranquil escape, perfect for those seeking peaceful coastal scenes. This shingle beach stretches for miles, providing unobstructed views across the sparkling Solent towards the dramatic silhouette of the Isle of Wight.

* Photographic Appeal: The calm waters make it ideal for long-exposure photography, blurring the waves into a silky mist. Early mornings offer stunning sunrises over the water, while sunsets paint the sky in fiery hues, backlighting the distant island. Keep an eye out for diverse wading birds foraging along the tide line – a fantastic opportunity for wildlife photography, even with a modest telephoto lens. The groynes that punctuate the beach also provide excellent leading lines to draw the viewer's eye into your composition.

* Best Time to Visit: Early morning or late afternoon for the best light and fewer crowds. High tide can bring the water closer to the sea wall, while low tide reveals more of the shingle and creates interesting patterns.

* Features to Capture: The distant Isle of Wight, colourful sailing boats passing through the Solent, patterns in the shingle, and coastal birds.

2. West Wittering Beach: A Canvas of Golden Sand (Just Beyond the Border!)

(Opportunity for photos of wide sandy beach, colourful beach huts, families playing, kitesurfers)

While technically nestled just over the border in West Sussex, West Wittering is undeniably a firm favourite and frequently visited by Hampshire residents, making it a must-mention for its sheer photographic potential. This extensive, sandy beach is famous for its excellent water quality and stunning natural beauty.

* Photographic Appeal: The vast expanse of golden sand, particularly at low tide, creates an incredible sense of scale and offers endless opportunities for wide-angle landscapes. The vibrant, privately-owned beach huts lining sections of the shore provide brilliant pops of colour and character, perfect for adding interest to your compositions. It’s also a fantastic spot for action photography, with kitesurfers and windsurfers often gracing the waves, especially on windy days. The rolling sand dunes behind the beach add another layer of texture and depth.

* Best Time to Visit: Low tide reveals the most expansive sandy flats, ideal for reflections and wide shots. Weekdays are generally quieter, though even on busy summer days, the sheer size of the beach means you can often find your own space.

* Features to Capture: The iconic colourful beach huts, vast stretches of sand at low tide, lively watersports, candid family moments, and dramatic cloud formations over the open sea.

3. Hayling Island: Diverse Coastal Charms

(Opportunity for photos of pebble beaches, kitesurfers, seaside attractions, coastal paths)

Hayling Island offers a wonderfully varied coastal experience, from its award-winning beaches to its popular amusement park. Its main beaches often boast Blue Flag status, assuring clean water and excellent facilities.

* Photographic Appeal: The mix of pebble and sand sections provides different textures to work with. Hayling is a mecca for watersports, particularly kitesurfing and windsurfing, offering thrilling opportunities for dynamic action shots. The distant view of the Spinnaker Tower and Portsmouth's historic dockyard across Langstone Harbour can add interesting urban backdrops to your coastal shots. For a different perspective, the Hayling Billy Trail, a former railway line, offers picturesque coastal walks with views over the harbour and salt marshes – great for nature and long-exposure estuary photography.

* Best Time to Visit: Mid-morning to late afternoon for good light on the main beach. Weekends can be bustling, offering opportunities for lively people shots, while weekdays might provide more serene moments.

* Features to Capture: Watersports in action, colourful beach huts, views across to Portsmouth, coastal birds in the salt marshes, and the unique architecture of the seaside amusement park.

4. Calshot Beach: Where History Meets the Horizon

(Opportunity for photos of Calshot Castle, Solent views, passing ships, shingle beach)

For a truly unique photographic experience, head to Calshot Spit, a mile-long shingle bank that juts out into the mouth of Southampton Water. Dominated by the impressive Calshot Castle, built by Henry VIII, this beach offers a blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue.

* Photographic Appeal: The iconic Calshot Castle provides a dramatic focal point, offering fantastic opportunities for incorporating historical elements into your landscapes. From the spit, you get incredible panoramic views of Southampton Water, the Isle of Wight, and the constant procession of ships – from massive cruise liners to container ships – entering and leaving the port. This makes it a prime spot for maritime photography and capturing the sheer scale of these vessels against the open water. The shingle itself, with its varied colours and textures, can also be a subject in its own right, especially after a storm.

* Best Time to Visit: Any time for the maritime activity. Golden hour (sunrise/sunset) provides magical light on the castle and water. High tide can be dramatic with waves breaking over the shingle, while low tide reveals more of the intertidal zone.

* Features to Capture: Calshot Castle from various angles, colossal cruise ships and tankers, the Solent Lighthouse, windsurfers and kitesurfers (there's a major activity centre here), and the patterns in the shingle.

5. Southsea Seafront: Urban Charm Meets Coastal Grandeur

Southsea Seafront, the vibrant coastal strip of Portsmouth, offers a dynamic blend of urban energy and traditional seaside charm. It's a bustling pebble beach backed by a wide promenade, historic fortifications, and lively attractions, providing a wealth of photographic opportunities unlike any other beach in Hampshire.

* Photographic Appeal: Southsea's charm lies in its diverse elements. The iconic South Parade Pier stands majestically, offering classic pier shots, especially at dawn or dusk when its lights reflect on the water. The colourful Victorian beach huts provide a delightful contrast against the shingle, perfect for bright, cheerful compositions. For a touch of history, the historic fortifications like Southsea Castle and the remains of the old city walls offer powerful architectural subjects. The beach provides fantastic panoramic views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, often with large ships, ferries, and naval vessels passing by, adding a maritime layer to your seascapes. The bustling Clarence Esplanade itself is a hub of activity, allowing for vibrant street photography and capturing the essence of a lively British seaside town.

* Best Time to Visit: Early morning sunrises over the Solent are spectacular, offering soft light and often quieter moments before the crowds arrive. Late afternoon and sunset also paint the sky dramatically, silhouetting the pier and the Isle of Wight. Weekends are bustling, great for capturing the lively atmosphere, while weekdays can offer more space for landscape shots.

* Features to Capture: The grandeur of South Parade Pier, the cheerful rows of beach huts, historic cannons and fortifications, views of passing ships on the Solent, the bustling promenade with cyclists and strollers, and the dramatic interplay of urban elements with the natural seascape.

Hampshire's diverse coastline truly offers a treasure trove for photographers.

Each beach has its own unique character, waiting to be discovered and captured through your lens.

Photography Tips for Hampshire's Coastline:

* Embrace the Golden Hour: The hour after sunrise and before sunset casts a warm, soft light that is incredibly flattering for landscapes and portraits alike.

* Look for Leading Lines: Use groynes, pathways, or the natural curve of the shoreline to guide the viewer's eye through your image.

* Don't Fear the Weather: Overcast days can offer soft, diffused light perfect for details, while stormy skies can add drama and mood to your photographs. Just ensure your gear is protected from the elements!

* Mind Your Composition: Apply the rule of thirds, look for symmetry, or experiment with foreground interest to add depth.

* Protect Your Gear: Sand and saltwater are photography equipment's worst enemies. Use lens hoods, filters, and consider a rain cover or dry bag for extra protection. Always clean your gear thoroughly after a beach shoot.

So grab your camera, embrace the fresh sea air, and create some stunning seaside memories OR maybe now is the time to book a bespoke photography session with Beside The Seaside Photography today !!

Fathers Day Poem

Walk a little slower Daddy

"Walk a little slower, Daddy!" said a little child so small.

"I'm following in your footsteps and i don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast, sometimes they're hard to see;

So walk a little slower Daddy, for you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up, you're what i want to be.

Then i will have a little child who'll want to follow me.

And i would want to lead just right, and know that i was true;

So, walk a little slower, Daddy, for i must follow you!!"

Portsmouths' most instagrammable places

After a recent trip to London we came across a road very popular with influencers and those looking to make their instagram grids absolutely perfect.

This got me thinking where are Portsmouths most instagrammable places??

Portsmouth offers a fantastic array of Instagrammable spots, blending historic charm with vibrant modern attractions. Here are some of the most popular and picturesque locations:

Iconic Landmarks & Waterfront Views:

* Spinnaker Tower: This is a must-visit for breathtaking panoramic views of Portsmouth Harbour, the Solent, and beyond. The SkyWalk, with its glass floor, offers a thrilling and highly Instagrammable experience. You can also capture stunning shots of the tower itself from various points around the city, especially from the Historic Dockyard or Gunwharf Quays.

* Portsmouth Historic Dockyard: This sprawling historical site is a treasure trove of photo opportunities.

* HMS Victory: Nelson's flagship provides incredible historical backdrops.

* HMS Warrior 1860: This ironclad warship offers striking views of the ship itself, the Spinnaker Tower, and the harbour from its decks.

* The Mary Rose Museum: While indoors, the preserved Tudor warship and its artifacts offer a unique glimpse into history that can be captured with good lighting.

* Harbour Tours: Take a boat tour for unique perspectives of the ships and the modern Royal Navy vessels in the harbour.

* Porter's Garden: A "secret garden" within the Dockyard, offering a peaceful and scenic spot with benches and blooming greenery.

* Gunwharf Quays: This waterfront shopping and dining area is great for capturing modern city vibes against the backdrop of the harbour and the Spinnaker Tower.

* Old Portsmouth: Explore the historic streets, including the cathedral, the old garrison church, and Hotwalls Studios. The cobbled streets and historic buildings provide a charming, old-world aesthetic.

* Southsea Castle: This historic fortification built by Henry VIII offers incredible views over the Solent and the Isle of Wight. It's particularly beautiful at sunset for photography.

* South Parade Pier: A classic pier experience with amusements and eateries, offering opportunities for vibrant seafront shots.

* Millennium Promenade: A great place to walk and capture the sunset, offering easy access and a gentle path from Old Portsmouth to Southsea.

Unique & Quirky Spots:

* Upside Down House (Clarence Pier): Get ready for mind-bending, gravity-defying photos where you can appear to walk on the ceiling or dangle from furniture. It's a fun and unique photo experience.

* Hotwalls Studios: Located in the Grade I listed Point Battery and Barracks, this hub for local artists offers a creative and unique backdrop with its historic architecture and artistic vibe.

Nature & Scenic Outdoors:

* Southsea Seafront and Beach: Offers classic seaside shots, views across the Solent, and a chance to capture the iconic beach huts (if present).

* Southsea Rose Garden: A beautiful hidden gem with hundreds of colorful roses, perfect for a peaceful and aesthetically pleasing backdrop, especially from late spring to early autumn.

* Canoe Lake: A popular spot for relaxing walks, with boats and swans, offering serene photo opportunities.

* Portsdown Hill: For panoramic views of the city, sea, and countryside, Portsdown Hill provides incredible vantage points.

* Farlington Marshes Nature Reserve: A haven for bird enthusiasts, offering stunning views across Langstone Harbour and a chance to capture natural beauty and wildlife.

* Port Solent: The marina here offers a holiday-like feel with its beautiful boats and waterfront restaurants, creating a picturesque setting.

What to wear for a family beach session? | Child & Family Photographer

What to wear for a family beach session? | Child & Family Photographer

Let’s talk wardrobe for your family beach photo session—because I get it, the struggle is real when it comes to finding the perfect outfits for everyone (from toddlers to adults).

You want your photos to look put together but not over the top, right? Here are some tips to help you keep things simple, stress-free, and beach-ready!

1. Coordinate, Don’t Match

When you’re planning outfits for the fam, think coordinating colors, not identical ones. Choose a color palette with two or three tones that work well together. The beach is a natural backdrop, so colors that vibe with sand, sea, and sky are always winners. Think soft pastels, whites, and blues, or go earthy with muted greens and khakis.

Do:

Pick complementary colors across everyone’s outfits.

Use a mix of solids and subtle patterns. A light floral dress or a checked shirt can add a nice pop without overwhelming the vibe.

Don’t:

Go too “matchy-matchy” (like everyone in the exact same white shirt). It can look a little basic in photos.

2. Consider the Location

The beach means wind, sand, and (sometimes) water. It’s not the place for formalwear, so keep it casual and comfortable.

For men, go for lightweight shirts (linen or cotton are perfect) paired with shorts or relaxed-fit chinos. Avoid anything too tight or heavy—remember, we’re all about that breezy beach vibe.

For women, flowy dresses or skirts work well (nothing too short—you don’t want to be wrestling with a gust of wind the whole session). Maxi dresses are a great option, and they look amazing when the wind catches them just right. If dresses aren’t your thing, a comfy jumpsuit or light pants with a cute top will do the trick.

For young adults and teens, keep it trendy but chill. Let them express a bit of their personality—just within the same color palette. A fun, casual dress or a cool button-up with shorts works great.

For kids and toddlers, stick with comfy clothes. Flowy dresses for little girls or a cute romper, and shorts with a lightweight shirt for boys are easy and beach-appropriate. If your toddlers are running around barefoot, that’s totally fine (and adorable!).

Do:

Keep fabrics light and breathable (linen, cotton, flowy materials).

Consider the beach’s elements (wind and sand)—flowy dresses or shorts for comfort.

Don’t:

Go too formal or heavy—save the blazers for another occasion.

3. Patterns & Textures: Keep It Balanced

A little bit of pattern or texture can add depth to your photos, but you want to keep things balanced. For example, if one person is wearing a pattern, make sure the others stick to solids or simpler textures.

Try mixing textures—knits, denim, or lace details—without going too wild. One standout piece with some texture or pattern is enough.

Do:

Incorporate one or two patterns to break up the solid colors.

Don’t:

Overload on busy prints—keep it subtle.

4. Footwear: Yes, It Matters

It’s the beach, so you might think barefoot is the way to go, but don’t forget that shoes can sneak into shots. If you do wear shoes, go for something neutral and beach-appropriate—think sandals, espadrilles, or slip-ons.

For men and women, neutral sandals or flip-flops are perfect, but feel free to kick them off when we’re near the water for a more relaxed feel.

For kids, make sure they’re in something comfy. Barefoot or sandals are perfect. No need for dress shoes at the beach!

Do:

Stick to neutral footwear—sandals, espadrilles, or casual shoes.

Be prepared to go barefoot for a few shots (if you’re comfortable with it).

Don’t:

Wear heavy or dressy shoes—they’ll feel out of place at the beach.

5. Accessorize Smartly

Accessories can add a nice touch, but keep it simple and practical for the beach. A fun hat or a simple necklace is great, but avoid anything too bulky or distracting. For kids, keep accessories to a minimum—nothing that will fall off or get lost in the sand!

Do:

Add a simple accessory like a sun hat or a lightweight scarf.

Don’t:

Go overboard with jewelry or large accessories that could feel fussy.

6. Final Do’s & Don’ts:

• Do: Bring a backup outfit (especially for little ones). We all know things can get messy quickly.

Don’t: Wear clothes that are uncomfortable or that you’ll be adjusting the entire time.

Do: Plan ahead and lay out everyone’s outfits together to see how the colors and patterns work.

Don’t: Stress about perfection—these photos are about capturing your family’s unique personalities and interactions.
